Gabriel-Edouard Thurner

(1840 – 1907)

 

Gabriel Thurner was born in Mulhouse in 1840.Thurner studied under Chabal Dussurgey and exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1865, where he mostly exhibited still-lives of flowers although he also painted woodland scenes, rustic interiors and genre scenes.

 

From 1880 Thurner was Professor of flower design at the École des Gobelins. From 1884-1900, Thurner was awarded medals of excellence for his work by the Sociétaire des Artistes Français.
