Born April 29, 1916 in Bastia (Corsica), Tony Agostini died in 1990 in Antony (Hauts-de-Seine).
In an early administrative career, Agostini met Gen Paul, Francis Carco, and Marcel Ayme in Montmartre in 1944, and then decided to dedicate his life to painting. He exhibited in several of the annual shows of Paris from 1953 onwards. notably in the Salon: Painters Witnesses of Time, 1955 and an annual School of Paris, Galerie Charpentier, as well as thematic exhibitions held there: Discover 1955, 1957 Price Greenshields, 1961 Shapes and Colours, in 1957 the Salon des Tuileries and participations in group shows abroad. Agostini had numerous solo shows from 1947 notably in 1951-1952, Paris Gallery Visconti , 1957-1963 Galerie Charpentier, 1959- 1962 New York and San Francisco 1960.
Agostini’s work was influenced by Gen Paul in colour and also hugely influenced by Cézanne. In the beginning of his career Agostini painted the people, squares and streets of Paris then moved on to the art of still life.
